Alison Pill, Megan Follows, Martha Burns, Kevin Whately, Sophie Bennett
Kevin Whately (The English Patient, and best known as Sergeant Robbie Lewis in the Inspector Morse series on PBS) stars as Dr. Philip Carr, along with Alison Pill (The Judy Garland Story), as his daughter Katy Carr, Megan Follows (Anne of Green Gables), as her cousin Helen, and long-time favorite Dean Stockwell in this warm family drama that tells the story Katy, a headstrong, energetic thirteen-year-old girl with a feisty, rebellious streak who seems to be more than her father can handle at times, even with the aid of Aunt Izzie (Martha Burns). The arrival of her ill cousin begins to alter Katy's perception of the world; then a serious accident confides Katy to her room, which changes the young girl's outlook on life forever. This movie is based on the classic novel, What Katy Did, by Susan Coolidge.
This is a heartwarming movie with a terrific cast! Alison Pill is outstanding as Katy Carr, the teen girl that is full of life and brings laughter to her Aunt Helen (fabulously played by Megan Follows) who needs the laughs as she is quite ill and bound to a wheelchair. Helen says about Katy: "She's the perfect tonic." Rounding out this fine cast is Kevin Whately as Katy's father, Martha Burns as her Aunt Izzie and Dean Stockwell.
Kay is an energetic teen girl who is prone to accidents but there is never a dull moment when she is around. When an accident alters Katy's life she finds the courage to go on from her Aunt Helen. This heartwarming story is Dove Approved for all ages and earns five Doves from us our highest rating.
