The book opens with Jesus joining Ricky, age 9, and his sister, Dee Dee, age 5 at their breakfast table. He offers them the opportunity to go on an adventure to see him carry out God the Father’s plan to rescue the world. The children are especially excited to learn that the angel, Gabriel, will be their special guide.
Ricky and Dee Dee first meet Gabriel as he is informing Mary that she is truly blessed and the Lord is with her. The children learn that Jesus came from heaven to earth, to be born completely human and yet still remain completely God – to save mankind. Gabriel brings the children to see the key events in Jesus’ life including as an infant born in a manger; as a youth teaching religious leaders in the Temple; being brought into the wilderness and tempted by Satan; gathering His disciples; performing miracles; and His persecution by the religious leaders.
The book ends with Judas leaving the Last Supper to betray Jesus with the children trying to stop him – leaving the reader in suspense as to Jesus’ fate.
The brother and sister, Ricky and Dee Dee, are once again joined by Jesus for an adventure that will influence the two forever. Jesus sends them to the Angel Gabriel to see His life from the beginning. Their travels give them many encounters throughout Jesus' life here on Earth from His birth to the meeting with the priests in the temple, from the gathering of the disciples to the story of the five loaves of bread and two fish. Gabriel guides them to the last supper and to Judas' betrayal. As Dee Dee and Ricky comprehend God the Father's rescue plan the story is to be continued in the next book.
This wonderful story of Jesus for the entire family to enjoy through the eyes of children is a great addition to enhance one's faith. We are truly proud to award this book the Dove "Family-Approved" Seal for all ages.
