Synopsis: Limited Theatrical Release - A father and son attempt to become the first single canoe team to paddle the thousand mile Marquette/Joliet discovery route of the Mississippi. Their journey from St. Ignace, Michigan to St. Louis is based on the true story of father and son Steve and Justin Faulkner's journey across Lake Michigan, the Fox, Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers. The film is based on Faulkner's book. This voyage of discovery takes place along one of the most challenging canoe routes in the Midwest with high seas, dangerous currents, pea soup fog, many portages, paddling upstream for more than 150 miles, dodging floods and ominous barges. Along the way the Faulkners discover that they have even less in common than they realized before they began their journey. Attempting to bridge that formidable gap makes for make surprises.
"WaterWalk" is the coming of age story focusing on Justin, the adopted son of Steve and Joy Faulkner. Justin and Steve have a strained relationship and Justin seeks to come closer to his father. The two embark on a canoe journey following the rout taken by Marquette and Joliet who discovered the Mississippi river. Along the way the two face struggles, show courage and meet new friends as they are forced to work together.
"WaterWalk" is filmed mainly in the great outdoors and the scenery is truly breathtaking. Some great Michigan Upper Peninsula scenes are featured in the movie. There are moral lessons and faith is a sincere part of their journey as Justin and Steve take the time to worship in a few churches along the way. This is a movie of bonding and taking the time to show your family just how important they are to you. We are pleased to award "WaterWalk" our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal for ages 12 and over.
