A frustrated young boy with problems in school overcomes the obstacles in his life to become a world-renowned neurosurgeon in the movie GIFTED HANDS: THE BEN CARSON STORY. This uplifting and inspirational story that stars Oscar® winner Cuba Gooding Jr. (Jerry Maguire) and two-time NAACP Image Award winner Kimberly Elise (The Great Debaters, The Manchurian Candidate). It is based on the true story of Dr. Benjamin S. Carson, whose lifelong journey led him to become director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, a best-selling author and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Here's the good news: this movie brings you to the edge of your seat at times and you will want to see what happens next. The bad news is that it contains strong language outside of Dove's recommendation. Based on the true story of a world renown Pediatric Neurosurgeon, this story tells how one young man overcomes many obstacles to prove that with faith and encouragement anything is possible. Raised in a time when prejudices were voiced at every turn, this young man shows that you can get beyond any challenge if you want to, though hard work.
This is a very encouraging movie promoting believing in miracles, yourself and in others. There are many wonderful faith-based messages in this movie. Due to a profanity it has been awarded the Dove "Faith Based" Seal with a caution for language. See content chart below.
