Synopsis:
Belinda's (Scout Taylor Compton, "13 Going on 30") dream of a career in medicine is challenged by the town's resident doctor who feels society is not ready for a woman physician. When Drew Simpson (Patrick Levis, "The King of Queens"), a handsome stranger, comes to town to settle his deceased uncle's affairs, Belinda must decide if it's possible to be in love and follow your dreams. Her medical expertise is tested when she nurses the very wealthy Boston socialite, Mrs. Stafford Smith (Nancy Linehan Charles, "Huff"), back to health. Mrs. Smith is so impressed with Belinda's abilities that she offers to pay for medical school.
Dove Worldview:
We have watched through the sequels of the "Love Comes Softly" series the love and faith of the Marty and Clark Davies family. Their family story continued through the journey of their daughter Missie. Now their granddaughter Belinda has decisions to make in her life.
As in each one of the series there is a fantastic display of love, faith and encouraging moral values. There are also many issues that are dealt with such as being unable to read, adoption and having goals in life. This is a truly enjoyable movie for the family. I do have to make a note that there are a couple of situations that may be upsetting for younger children. We happily award this film our Dove "Family-Approved" Seal.
