For Ages 12 and Over
The story of three teenagers who risk their lives when they commit treason to spread the truth in Nazi Germany. This is based on the true story of the Helmuth Hubener group: the youngest German resistance fighters in World War II.
This is a powerful drama based on a true story. A resistance to the Nazi regime involves three unlikely teen boys, Rudi Wobbe, Helmuth Hubener and Karl Heinz Schnibbe. They are proud to be part of a resistance movement and what they call a “brotherhood”. Rudi prays to God for help when he learns his two friends have been arrested. His mother is terrified of the Nazis and has remained a loyalist for that reason. She is fearful something will happen to her son.
The film portrays the story realistically, including a scene in prison in which a teen is punched and kicked several times by a Nazi guard. It might make some uncomfortable but its powerful faith message, which features several characters praying and attending church, and standing for freedom in the midst of the Gestapo, means that this is an inspiring and remarkable movie. We are glad to award it our Dove “Faith Friendly” Seal for ages twelve plus. This movie might inspire many to stand firm in one’s convictions and faith. This is well worth seeing.
