Dove Review

Mavis Gary (Charlize Theron) is a writer who writes teen fiction and the premise of this film is that she returns to her tiny hometown to reclaim her high school sweetheart Buddy Slade (Patrick Wilson), who just happens to be married. Mavis knows this but ignores it and selfishly moves ahead with her plans, even though on top of being married Buddy just became the proud father of a daughter.

This plot immediately presents us with problems in awarding our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal to the movie but in addition to this there is the use of very strong language. A former classmate (Patton Oswalt) proves to be the voice of truth, urging Mavis to leave Buddy alone, but Mavis refuses to listen to any voice other than her own.

It is obvious that we can’t award our Dove Seal to this one so we recommend you try to locate a family-friendly movie instead.
