Chloe struggles with her family’s move to a new town. She is unsure how she will fit into her new school and misses old friends and the security and acceptance she had before their move. Her father begins to tell her story of Jonah and his reluctance to follow God’s direction with disastrous results. He encourages her to see God’s ability to redeem situations even when they seem impossible, asking her to use her imagination to travel back… way back to the days when Nineveh was an evil city, filled with hard hearted, stubborn and unrepentant people.
This telling of Jonah’s tale features a movie musical ripe with high energy dance, Spanish mariners, a king and queen who love their people deeply as well as Humphrey, a BIG fish who doesn’t know where he fits in, dancing crabs, sharks and the wonder of the deep blue sea! Viewers will find this to be an interesting and captivating slant on the age old story of Jonah and the whale set against incredible music and amazing choreography.
Chloe learns that friendship is found in unexpected places and having a willingness to be used by God even when we don’t understand his ways are lessons worth learning. Jonah and Humphrey along with the town of Nineveh learn some of those same lessons as well! Parents and children alike will enjoy this high stepping family musical. Themes of acceptance, friendship and loving others are woven throughout the fabric of this wonderful film.
We are very pleased to approve “Jonah the Big Fish” for viewers of all ages.
