“Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” is a wonder indeed! This original story by writer/director Zach Helm is one of the most imaginative fantasies I have seen on the big screen in years. The message is fresh and the cast play their parts with commitment and excellence all around. I wish there was a toy store like this in my neighborhood.
Two main themes keet emerging in the film. One is a call to believe in your abilities and to use your imagination whenever you can. The other is a little more serious. You see, the film opens with Mr. Magorium telling his assistant that it is time for him to leave. When she doesn’t understand where he is going, he reveals that it is time for him to die. While this issue is not handled too lightly, it is not daunting either. The film does an excellent job of showing the audience that death is a part of life and that your greatest legacy is how you have affected others while you are here on earth. It is important to note that the subject is handled with great care and explained in simple terms.
“Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium” is a delightful film and we are pleased to award it our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal.
