Synopsis

The “Italian Stallion,” Rocky Balboa, is an aspiring boxer in downtown Philadelphia. His one chance to make a better life for himself is through his boxing and Adrian, a girl who works in the local pet store. Through a publicity stunt, Rocky is set up to fight Apollo Creed, the current heavyweight champion who is already set to win. But Rocky really needs to triumph, against all the odds…

Dove Review

This film won the Academy Award for Best Picture for 1976. It has spawned four sequels and currently a sixth “Rocky” film is in production. This story is inspiring as Rocky, a club fighter, is given a chance to fight Apollo Creed for the heavyweight championship of the world. Rocky trains hard and surprises Creed. He also gains a new love in his journey through life in the form of Adrian. Unfortunately, very strong language in a few spots prevent us from awarding it our Dove seal. It is a shame. If viewers can watch a filtered version, they would be most pleased with this story.
