Synopsis

This video provides a “Double Retro” look back in time through the re-release of the original 1960 Newsreel. This roughly two minute and thirty second video revisits the actual Newsreel seen by movie goers back in September 1960. We hope you enjoy this glimpse back in time to 1935 as seen through the eyes of 1960.

Dove Review

This short video, approximately 2 and-a-half minutes in length, looks with retro eyes at 1935, twenty five years previously, and concentrates on world events such as Mussolini’s aggressive totalitarianism plan, and France’s struggle in facing this aggression. The newsreel mentions that in 1960 the Congo joined the United Nations and the importance of this organization. The reel ends by asking if the aggression of Mussolini in the past could be repeated, or if it could be avoided. This video sails by and feels truncated as if there is too much story to tell and not enough time to tell it. But it is fascinating nonetheless.
