Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous

This sequel to the action comedy "Miss Congeniality" begins a few weeks after the last film ends. While working undercover to catch some bank robbers, FBI agent Gracie Hart (Sandra Bullock) nearly blows the sting operation when she is recognized by civilians who saw her on the televised beauty pageant. Realizing that her fame is making her field work nearly impossible, Gracie reluctantly accepts a job as public relations ambassador for the FBI. Her new partner and bodyguard, Sam Fuller (Regina King), is a tough, unpopular agent who has been moved around a lot in the bureau due to her inability to get along with other agents. When Gracie’s best friend (Heather Burns), who also happens to be Miss United States, is kidnapped in Las Vegas along with her emcee (William Shatner), Gracie can’t resist getting involved again.

Dove Review

One of my favorite actresses is Sandra Bullock so I am pleased when Dove can award the Dove Seal to any movie in which she stars. Dove couldn’t approve the original “Miss Congeniality” because of some profanities. But in this sequel, Producer Sandra Bullock has toned down the language enough for us to give it a 12+ rating. There still is some occasional foul language and some sexual innuendo, but they are not very graphic. In any case, parents should use caution before letting children view this film.

There are many comical scenes between agents Hart and Fuller. They are constantly in each others faces and the friction between them creates some very funny results. One time Hart calls Fuller “sister” and Fuller says “I hope you didn’t call me sister, because I didn’t see any skinny white girls sitting around my dinner table when I was growing up.” Then Hart retorts, “Thank you for calling me skinny.”

There is great music throughout the entire film with songs like Proud Mary, I’ll Take you There, She’s a Bad Mama Jama, and many more. Teenagers and adults will really enjoy this sequel and Sandra Bullock’s hilarious performance.
