Alice in Wonderland

The very familiar tale of Alice falling down the hole, while running after the White Rabbit, is well done by the Disney people. Watching Alice in the madcap word of Wonderland and all the characters: Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and the always late White Rabbit, is still fun viewing for all ages.

Dove Review

This is truly a “timeless masterpiece”, as the Disney people so aptly said in their promo of this 2 disc set Masterpiece Edition, which also contains a set of cards for young children to play a match-up game. Whomever is your favorite character in the story, you’ll enjoy them all, from the smiling, singing Cheshire Cat, to the Mad Hatter’s famous tea party with singing tea pots. The delightful song, “Painting The Roses Red” is rendered with gusto and great graphics. There’s a one-liner that I loved: “If you don’t know where you want to be, it doesn’t matter which way you go!”. Alice hears this, and then responds to the lovely music in the tree nearby.

The second disc in the set is the bonus for true movie buffs, as it contains actual footage of Walt Disney with Edgar Bergen, Charlie McCarthy, and Mortimer Sneed on the set at the studio. Through a ‘magic’ mirror, we’re given a glimpse back into Snow White dancing with the seven dwarfs, as well as clips of Mickey Mouse and Brier Rabbit. This video is recommended for kids of all ages, and with the added amenities, this is not only good entertainment, but great bang for your buck.
