Synopsis

In this comedy, Dickie Roberts (David Spade), now 35 years old, is the has-been child celebrity from an enormously popular television sitcom. Since his show was canceled, his mother left him, he cannot pay his bills, and nobody treats him like a star. He auditions for a role in a Rob Reiner film, but Reiner rejects him because his childhood wasn’t “normal” enough for him to understand the part. Dickie decides to pay a normal family $20,000 to treat him as one of their own children for a month. He discovers that being loved, as a member of a family is far better than the superficial public adoration he received as a celebrity. Alyssa Milano, formerly of “Who’s the Boss,” plays his girlfriend. Other child actors of the past make cameo appearances: Leif Garrett, Danny Bonaduce, Corey Feldman, Dustin Diamond (Screech) and Barry Williams (Greg Brady).

Dove Review

Although the message is wholesome, Dove cannot award the Dove Seal to this one because of vulgar language and lewd, sex-related humor.
