Synopsis

The Wilsons and the Martins have lived side by side all their lives, but never really knew each other. One day, the Martin’s goat made friends with the Wilson’s goat, then the Martins met the Wilsons. At first, the families thought they were too different to get along. When a new candy business brings the children together, both families struggle to overcome their differences. Through compassion and understanding, they learn how much they have to give to one another. “The Sweetest Gift” is an unexpected friendship. Outstanding performances by Helen Shaver (“The Craft”) and Diahann Carroll (“Eve’s Bayou”) bring the story alive for all ages.

Dove Review

In life we have to deal with many problems. Sometimes we don’t realize that people around us may be dealing with the same types of problems even though they are different. This story shows how even people with different backgrounds have many things in common. The movie is enjoyable but there are some racial comments that are dealt with.
