Synopsis

The year is 1933; Romilda Villani (Sophia Loren) and Ricardo Scicolone (Armand Assante) meet in a small town in Italy. They fall in love and conceive a daughter who was to become one of the biggest movie stars in the world. This is the story of Sophia Loren and her personal struggle to turn her life around. From her tortured childhood in Italy, to her silver screen debut and finally, her life with Carlo Ponti (Rip Torn). Ms. Loren is brilliantly featured in a dual role, playing both her mother and herself.
