Snow Falling On Cedars
A hard-edged reporter follows the trial of a Japanese American charged with the murder of a white fisherman. What especially holds this cynical writer’s attention, is the wife of the accused – she, being his childhood friend and sweetheart. The film shifts back and forth, between the ‘40s where the internment of Japanese Americans affects the family of the reporter’s former love, and the ‘50s, where the murder trial wages, exposing the community’s prejudice, while the couple struggles with their feelings of love and betrayal.
