Girl, Interrupted

In 1967, Susanna Kaysen (Winona Ryder), an 18-year-old girl, was placed in a psychiatric ward by her parents for Borderline Personality Disorder. While there, she befriended a group of offbeat, disturbed young women who helped her find herself. Based on a true story, “Girl, Interrupted” takes a wry look at Susanna’s two years at Claymoore Hospital. Aided by her doctor and a no-nonsense, yet compassionate nurse, she gained a confidence to reenter the world.

Sex

Profanity and obscenity sprinkled throughout; the leading characters smoke; drug use; sexual conversations and a couple of promiscuous sexual situations; a lesbian kiss; suicide; disregard for parental figures; Ms. Ryder’s morose and rebellious nature comes across like an adult Wednesday Addams in this Cuckoo Nest for girls.
