Synopsis

After being told by studio execs that he has lost his “edge,” screenwriter Steven Phillips (Albert Brooks) desperately seeks counsel from his successful screenwriter friend, Jack Warrick (Jeff Bridges). Jack confides to Steven that he himself was inspired to his ongoing success by a Muse – one of the nine daughters of the god Zeus who inspire creativity. This Muse (Sharon Stone) has alighted in Hollywood, and soon Steven is consumed by the prospect of becoming one of her clients. As the Muse becomes more and more demanding and strikes up a friendship with Steven’s wife, he realizes he is no longer in control of his life.
