Dove Review

This animated version of Mark Twain’s classic tale about Tom Sawyer and his friend Huckleberry Finn features many musical numbers and colorful characters. The story is filled with the boy’s imagination of being Robin Hood and a pirate—plus Tom’s love for the lovely Becky.

We must remember this is a classic, and the era in which the original story was written there were slaves, and the movie has comments about slaves being sold. Also it was a time when a person was hung for crimes they committed, and corporal punishment in schools was ok. It is an entertaining adventure a long as one remembers the history of the time. We award the Dove Family-Approved Seal to this version of Tom Sawyer.
