This is a delightful story which intermixes animation and real video with facts. The end result is an entertaining and educational experience for kids and the entire family! The animation’s colors are vivid and detailed, the characters are rich and delightful and the various facts we learn about the Earth, its inhabitants, and Antarctica are all amazing. This is an incredible production!
Sammy and Nick go in search of a lost penguin in the Antarctica. Sammy is a pink-colored female alien, and Nick is a green alien with blue hair! They have studied Earth and are about to travel there. Interesting tidbits are shared during the course of the film including the difference between ectotherms (cold blooded creatures such as reptiles) and endotherms (warm blooded creatures). A few other interesting tidbits include the fact that 1,000 to 5,000 scientists and researchers temporarily inhabit Antartica each year to research and conduct experiments. And the footage of killer whales (which we learn are actually a type of dolphin) are amazing. Another cool fact—it is the penguins’ blubber that insulates them and keeps them warm.
Rest assured the story will have a happy ending for the lost penguin named Mimi. We are pleased to award this wonderful animated film our Dove Seal for All Ages. It is a feast for the eyes and food for the brain! The combination of story, music, scientific facts, and delightful characters brought to life with incredible animation makes this a thrilling adventure not to be missed.
