No one is born a saint. To become one, the prerequisite is to be a sinner. Though St. Augustine was born in 354 A.D., his story is relevant and inspirational for every generation that has followed. “Saint Augustine: A Voice for All Generations” is the story of St. Augustine’s life and walks the viewer through every event that led him from sinner to saint. Using many of his own writings, this biographical documentary exposes the rebellion that Augustine possessed as a youth, as he followed more in the footsteps of his pagan father than in those of his devoted Christian mother. Much thanks goes to his mother, Monica, who never relented in her prayers for her son. She often followed him as he traveled, praying for him along the way.
Augustine possessed an analytical mind. Described as a seeker, he used his education and curiosity to lead him to the Bible and finally to conversion from paganism to Christianity. He left a prestigious career as a spokesman for the emperor in Milan, Italy, to return to his home in northern Africa and serve the Lord there. Though he felt great conviction for his earlier life of rebellion, he faced the earthly consequences with honor and left the world an example of true heart change and life transformation in a person who discovers the truth of Christ and lovingly commits to serving Him. You don’t have to be a history nerd or religious person to appreciate the biography of St. Augustine. The questions he asked, struggles he faced, and consequences he naturally received are relatable for people in all walks of life. “Saint Augustine: A Voice for all Generations” is an inspiring film, and The Dove Foundation and awards it the “Faith Friendly” seal of approval, in hopes that viewers ages 12 and older will watch it and be inspired, too!
