You’ll feel like you are back in Jerusalem during Holy Week, the most momentous week in the history of the world, and the setting for this “special news report.” With anchor Martyn Lewis and special on-the-scene correspondents, these news bulletins and reports cover the story of Holy Week in an enlightening presentation that provides greater understanding of the circumstances leading up to and surrounding Christ’s crucifixion. Shown in eight 15-minute segments.

Dove Review

Reporter Martyn Lewis is the main news anchor as he takes you back to the first Easter during the Jewish Holy Week. Eight 15-minute news stories will keep you on the edge of your seat. News reports include antics at Jerusalem’s Temple as preparation for Passover mounts and money laundering occurs. Rome is on high security alert due to a number of executions for treason, and no one knows were Pilate’s loyalties lie as excitement builds around Jesus. Jews arrive daily and begin purchasing the unleavened bread, lamb and bitter herbs from the markets; one segment features the meaning of each of these things in the Passover celebration.

Many people are following Jesus and seeing his miracles, including making blind men see, curing leprosy and bringing a man back to life, to name a few. Many are skeptical of course, and anxiety is high as people wonder what will happen with Jesus and those who want him dead.

News reports say that Jesus was arrested, questioned and charged with blasphemy. They publicize the crucifixion only via first-hand accounts, with no media allowed. Jesus is buried, but then the “Jesus Women” come to the tomb on the third day to find him gone and the stone rolled back from the door. Rumors of body snatching are spreading, or did Jesus survive the crucifixion? Special correspondents talk of the reappearance of Jesus in the little towns around Jerusalem and Jesus followers are encouraged. But how did Pilate handle this crisis?

Enjoy bonus questions and a group study guide. The fast-moving Passion week is portrayed in detail in each of the 15-minute segments, which offers much to learn that the whole family will enjoy. We award this DVD the Dove “Faith-Friendly” Seal for all ages.
