Polar bears are the narrators in this documentary-style adventure as Cassie tells the story of her mother and brother and their adventures in the Arctic. The film offers a unique look at how polar bears live, hunt and survive in the northern areas so affected by human contact and global warming. As Ikuk and her cubs travel to their hunting grounds, they encounter areas where humans have taken over and are encouraging the bears to feed off their leftovers. In doing so, the cubs get separated from their mother and find themselves in danger not only from the male polar bear chasing them but also the humans.
“The Great Polar Bear Adventure” is an educational and entertaining movie. It informs viewers of the dangers these wondrous bears face because of the environment, while showing how they are being helped by the same humans who have endangered them. There are a few frightening scenes, but nothing different than those most viewers have seen when they watch any nature series. We are proud to award this adventure DVD with the Dove Family Approved Seal for all ages.
