Greatest Heroes And Legends Of The Bible: The Apostles

For more than 40 years, Charlton Heston has been captivating audiences with his thrilling portrayals of Biblical heroes such as Moses in "The Ten Commandments." Now, sit back and relax as he shares with you and your family his passion for Biblical literature and his unique insights into these timeless stories of faith.

After the death and resurrection of Jesus, His followers dedicated themselves to spreading His message throughout the land. Now you can share this uplifting story with your entire family.

"The Apostles" begins with a miracle—Peter, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit, heals a man who has been crippled since birth. The crowd that witnesses the miracle is amazed. But Peter reminds them that he performed this wondrous act for one reason only—to glorify Jesus' name.

As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Peter and the other Apostles are in great danger. The religious authorities see them as a serious threat. And many of them are, indeed, persecuted. At the same time, however, some of the persecutors are themselves converted. Among them is a man who will eventually become the most important Apostle of all.

Dove Review

Jesus’ Apostles are featured in this wonderful animated movie hosted by the world renowned actor Charlton Heston. He introduces the story by talking about how the Apostles were revitalized after seeing the resurrected Christ and how they spread the good news of Jesus.

The film focuses on Peter and John, as well as Stephen and Paul. The Sanhedrin fights the Apostles to the point that Stephen is stoned, yet he forgives the people as they stone him. Various scenes from the Bible are acted out, including the lame man being healed as Peter lifts him to his feet, the freeing of Peter and John from prison, Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus, and Paul and his fellow passengers being saved from a storm at sea, although the ship does not make it through the storm.

This is another terrific animated film in the “Greatest Heroes And Legends Of The Bible” series. We happily award it our Faith Friendly Seal for all ages and five Doves. It’s inspiring!
