Black Beauty, a magnificent stallion that runs like the wind, finds a home with the genteel Squire Gordon and his family. When tragedy strikes, the Gordons are forced to sell all of their horses and Beauty is separated from his friends, both equine and human. He and Ginger, his lively mare friend, and Jenny, the stable girl, are heartbroken when they are separated.
Ginger lived a harsh life at the hands of cruel masters before finding peace at Squire Gordon’s and she, better than the other horses, can foresee what is ahead for them. Her dire predictions hold true when Beauty is sold to a vain and heartless society woman who cares more about what she looks like in her carriage than the horse that pulls it. Black Beauty desperately misses the kindness of Jenny and the Gordon family, as well as the companionship of his stable mate, Ginger, and yearns to return to all he loved. Beauty is broken in body but not spirit in spite of the hardships he experiences. No matter how others treat him, the glorious black steed never loses who he is deep inside: a kind and loving horse. He works hard whenever he is asked and never returns evil for evil. He serves his masters well and never loses his sweet temperament in the midst of great trial. Children can learn a great deal from this classic tale of bravery, endurance and friendship. Beautifully animated, this film will delight young and old. We are pleased to approve “Black Beauty” for viewers of all ages and award it the Dove Family Approved Seal.
