This is a delightful movie because the kids are the heroes! Admiral Ironsides (Frank Collison) is a bad pirate who plots to use a device to fry all the electronic devices of the world so that he may have ultimate power. But Mickey Matson (Derek Brandon) and his friend Sully (Francesca DeRosa) unite to attempt to defeat the wicked villain. In addition, Mickey learns some good news regarding his grandfather (played by the lovable Christopher Lloyd).
The kids have plenty of enemies, including a female martial artist named Lynch (Tia Carrere). There is lots of action with several fights that include punching and kicking, striking with poles, blasts from ray guns, and using whatever metal objects are available on the bad guys. There is some slapstick violence in the movie but it is not graphic. The kids take on the pirates and hold their own. One scene that the kids will love shows Mickey using power shoes and lifting off the ground. Regarding the big fight, we won’t tell who wins but let’s just say the conclusion is satisfying. Much of this movie was filmed in Manistee, Michigan.
We are pleased to award “Pirate’s Code: The Adventures of Mickey Matson” our Dove Family-Approved Seal for all ages.
