Synopsis

Gibsonburg is based on the true story of the only high school baseball team to win a state championship with a losing record. The team’s first year coach helped guide them from a 6-17 regular season to 8 post season victories and the state title. This magical, coming of age film deals not only with baseball, but the trials, tribulations, romances and mysteries that faced the teens along the way.

Dove Review

This is an inspiring movie about underdogs that overcome! The movie is based on a true story. The Gibsonburg, Ohio High School baseball team starts out not being able to catch the ball nor win games but the coach continues to tell them he has two rules: “You never give up, ever and secondly, believe in yourself and the team.” By the time the team gets to the play-offs, despite having more losses than wins, they begin to win when it counts.

The movie features terrific themes including pulling together as a team, that family is more important than money, and dreams really can come true. We are happy to award our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal to “Gibsonburg” for ages twelve plus. “Gibsonburg” is a powerful drama!
