Academy Award® winner Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby”) narrates the documentary about the incredible true story of nature’s greatest explorers—lemurs. Captured with IMAX® 3D cameras, “Island of Lemurs: Madagascar” takes audiences on a spectacular journey to the remote and wondrous world of Madagascar. Lemurs arrived there as castaways millions of years ago and evolved into hundreds of diverse species but are now highly endangered. Join trailblazing scientist Patricia Wright on her lifelong mission to help these strange and adorable creatures survive in the modern world.
This is a delightful movie! The 3D is some of the best I have seen and works really well for this particular picture. Lemurs literally fly off the screen as do the words at the beginning of the film. The depth of the 3D experience adds a lot to the world of Madagascar, the main location of the movie.
Morgan Freeman does his usual outstanding job as narrator. His voice work really fits the documentary format so nicely. Dr. Patricia Wright is also an educational leader whose work and curiosity about the lemurs adds a nice touch to this production. This movie is very educational and informative. I never knew there were so many types of lemurs before I saw this picture, including the Bamboo Lemur and Ringtail Lemur. I didn’t know that the female lemurs were the dominant beings in the Ringtail group, including the smallest ones. In one “cute” scene the lemurs all join together in a little ball at night time as they sleep together in a family unit.
This wonderful movie should be enjoyed by everyone fortunate enough to see it. We are more than pleased to award it our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for all ages. This movie will take you to an island you wouldn’t mind being shipwrecked on!
