The Dove Foundation has retained film reviewer, Phil Boatwright as its West Coast Entertainment Editor. The Foundation will utilize his wealth of experience as a film historian with unique insights into film and television which meets the organization’s commitment to inform the public about quality entertainment choices.
Mr. Boatwright has been reviewing films from a Christian perspective for 12 years by instructing parents how to judge the suitability of a movie for their children. His ‘know-before-you-go’ advice has been welcomed by thousands of movie-goers of all ages.
"My goal is to provide data that people can intelligently discuss in order to make educated entertainment choices," Boatwright said. "I appreciate the fact that Dove is not in the business of attacking Hollywood. Rather, we want to congratulate the industry when it does present products that uplift one’s spirits, and at the same time, help families identify quality entertainment."
THE DOVE FOUNDATION is a national, non-profit organization established to encourage and promote the creation, production and distribution of wholesome family entertainment. The Foundation has awarded the nationally recognized DOVE FAMILY-APPROVED SEAL to more than 3,000 movies and videos deemed “family-friendly” by its film review board. Earlier this year, DOVE released the results of a ten-year study which identifies the gross profits of feature films by each MPAA ratings category. The Study conclusions show returns from G-rated films were eight times higher than their R-rated counterparts. The goal of the Film Profitability Study is to encourage studio executives to undertake more family-sensitive projects which will reap the greatest financial and social returns.
