Narnia-Mania Is On the Move
by Dick Rolfe, CEO – The Dove Foundation®

Dove Foundation CEO, Dick RolfeYou’d have to be living under a rock not to notice that another visit to the magical kingdom of Narnia is scheduled for May 16th. Walden Media and Walt Disney Pictures have already given us a taste of what to expect when we join the four Pevensie children on their re-visit to meet the daring, young Prince Caspian.

There is no doubt that people-especially Christians-will flock to the theaters filled with the anticipation of watching a spectacular, exciting sequel to the 2005 mega-hit, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.” From what I’ve seen of the teasers and trailers, they won’t be disappointed, if they are properly prepared for what they will see.

I encourage everyone to read or re-read “Prince Caspian.” In so doing, you will become aware that, unlike the first installment, this story is about warring factions from beginning to end. With that in mind, you can expect to see a lot of battles, full of strange creatures and plenty of fighting and killing. What you will not expect to see is gratuitous maiming, decapitations, and general bloodshed. The movie is rated PG, the same rating as “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.”

“Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” has not yet been reviewed by The Dove Foundation. Our review team is scheduled to see the entire movie on May 12. There will be a complete review posted on opening day at www.dove.org and www.FamilyEntertainmentCentral.org.

The filming has been under the watchful eye of Douglas Gresham, step-son to author, C.S. Lewis, so we can be certain that the integrity of the story has been maintained in spite of some creative license taken by the filmmaker to make the story flow onscreen.

One thing I admire about Walden Media is their dedication to good literature, giving us more than a movie. Every film has its teachable moments. You can count on Walden to produce materials that will help transform those moments into valuable life applications.
