A
dramatized, and most likely, fictionalized look at the grieving Queen Victoria after the
death of her husband Prince Albert. Enter the roguish John Brown, hired as a horseman
whos job it is to give the queen some exercise and fresh air. Soon he becomes a
confidant, chief aide and, it is suggested, a romantic partner (although that is never
confirmed). It tells the story of a developing friendship, set amidst the pomp of
Balmorals rigid aristocracy. 3-dimensional characters, a trenchant script, and
bravura performances. |
