| Review: | True story of a political activist in the 1920s who comes to accept Christ, changing her angry attitude to that of peace and self-sacrifice. Here we see a woman of faith who takes Christ's teachings seriously. Day's organization, The Catholic Worker, eventually fed and sheltered over 3,000 homeless a day. If you are wondering why such a spiritually moving film would contain objectionable material, Father Keiser once told me, "we try to show Jesus' teachings through the lives of people in our scripts. I'm not aiming at Christians. I'm trying to reach non-believers." I was greatly moved by this film. The objectionable behavior only serves to show how Christ can forgive and change a life. A lot of non believers will relate and very likely, reexamine their spiritual lives. |
