| Title: | 101 DALMATIANS |
| Stars: | Jeff Daniels, Joely Richardson, Joan Plowright, Hugh Laurie, and the exceptional Glenn Close as the two toned Cruella. |
| Distributor: | Disney |
| Category: | Kids Adventure |
| Rating: | G |
| Content: | Although rated G, the Laurel and Hardy type slapstick and pratfalls is just a bit more difficult to take than when it happens to cartoon characters. It's just easier on the psyche to see Wile E. Coyote fall off a cliff than a real person. Although the kids at the screening seemed to handle the action sequences well, I would still advice parents to be with the little ones to reassure them. After all, the story is about kidnapping, with the intent to harm. |
| Review: | Disney's live action recreation of its own 1961 animated classic. The original is paced just a wee bit slower, giving it a gentler quality than most members of Generation X are used to, but the live action version is nearly as appealing. A charming fantasy about two people meeting, because their dogs thought it would be a good idea for them to start a family. Love is in the air almost immediately for both species. Soon after a family of puppies comes into the world. 14 to be exact. Or is it 15? But a sinister figure comes into play. The evil Cruella deVil, a fashion designer enthralled with fur - especially the fur of very young animals. As soon as this vileness sees a sketch drawn by one of the human leads, she decides she must have those puppies. |
